Today we arrived in Tokyo. After flying via Sydney. The weather is humid and warm, rather nice actually. I have been spending time with my friend Malcolm, we have been adventuring about Tokyo. We had the real deal Japanese sushi experience at a great little sushi bar for lunch. One of the ones where the variety of sushi revolves round on a conveyor and you select which pieces you want. They even had green tea on tap! We went and visited what looked like an art gallery and were invited to join a japanese green tea ceremony! Malcolm and I practiced our japanese with about 4 middle aged japanese women who were very kind and hospitable. After that we saw a bit of youth culture with a BMX stunt competition. Japanese teens doing flips and stuff on bikes to a greatly enthusiastic commentator and heaps of video cameras. Japan is very high tech. It's amazing! Malcolm was given omiyage / gift by the tea ceremony ladies. Now we're back at the hotel, have ironed our suits and are preparing for another adventure! We've got the JET orientation over the next few days... the hotel is very luxurious!
